Damayanti said improving transparency could not happen overnight, but she believed several reforms introduced by Indonesia's financial services authority would be enough to address MSCI's concerns. She said Bank Indonesia would remain focused on stabilising the rupiah, and that the current benchmark rate is enough to anchor inflation expectations within the target range of 1.5 to 3.5 percent. Asked about a possible rate hike, she said any decision would be data-dependent.
