Voters in six battleground states told reporters that the rising cost of living dominates their choice ahead of the 3 November midterm elections. An analysis found that six in ten families cannot afford the basic cost of living in the battleground districts that will decide control of the House, and that incomes lagged behind costs in 42 of the 46 most competitive districts. Republicans are defending about three-quarters of those frontline districts. Voters pointed to groceries, petrol, rent and health care as the pressures shaping their vote.
