The delegation visited from October 21 to 28 and separately discussed bilateral relations, contacts between the armed forces, and the international and regional security situation with French and German representatives. The sides agreed to enhance strategic communication, strengthen mutual trust and expand defence exchanges and cooperation. The trip comes amid growing trade tensions between Beijing and Europe, after France and Germany jointly proposed a trade mechanism in early October that was widely seen as directed at China, and Beijing did not disclose the composition of its delegation.
