Key points

  • Houthi officials said Saudi-led airstrikes killed 13 people at a crowded market in northern Yemen, as fighting in the country intensified.
  • The report also noted heavier fighting in Taiz and an Israeli strike that left one person dead in Gaza.
  • The strikes came as Egypt held talks with Saudi and Emirati officials to contain regional tensions, while Iran's foreign minister said countries in the region should be responsible for their own security without the military presence of outside powers.

The strikes came as Egypt held talks with Saudi and Emirati officials to contain regional tensions, while Iran's foreign minister said countries in the region should be responsible for their own security without the military presence of outside powers. Egypt said this month it would provide Saudi Arabia with military support to defend the kingdom against Houthi attacks, a decision approved by lawmakers earlier this week.
