Key points

  • Tonga beat Samoa 20-18 in a thrilling final group game of the Rugby League World Cup at CommBank Stadium in Sydney on Sunday.
  • Robert Toia scored an early try for Tonga, and captain Addin Fonua-Blake crossed late to seal the win after Samoa had fought back into the lead.
  • Both teams reach the semi-finals: Tonga will play New Zealand next Saturday in Newcastle, while Samoa will face Australia in Sydney on Sunday.
