Pakistan, Turkmenistan discuss transit trade deal and transport corridors

Key points

  • Pakistan and Turkmenistan have discussed putting their transit trade agreement into action and building transport corridors to strengthen regional connectivity and bilateral trade.
  • The talks took place in Islamabad between Sanjay Perwani, head of Pakistan's Parliamentary Friendship Group with Turkmenistan, and Turkmenistan's Ambassador to Pakistan, Atadjan Movlamov.
  • Both sides stressed finalising and operationalising the Pakistan-Turkmenistan Transit Trade Agreement, especially as landlocked Turkmenistan needs reliable transit routes.
