Four more dengue patients were confirmed in Rawalpindi over the last two days, taking the seasonal tally to 83. District health officer Dr Jawad said three cases were confirmed on Friday and one on Saturday, and seven patients were admitted to Holy Family Hospital's dengue ward. Officials said 51 cases were reported in October and 27 in September, with none in August. The tally of 83 is far below the 1,586 cases recorded in the same period last year.

Rawalpindi police have started legal proceedings after a 30-year-old man died at the Gangu check post in Taxila. The man was travelling from Khanpur towards Taxila when police stopped his vehicle for a search. His family alleges he was beaten by officers and died at the scene, claims the police say will be investigated on merit. The death sparked protests, with residents blocking the Taxila-Khanpur road. Police say those found guilty of homicide will be held accountable.

The jobs of nearly 2,000 dengue workers in Rawalpindi district have been restored after they were dismissed last week when their contracts expired. On the orders of Punjab's director general of health, their contracts have been extended for another 90 days, and the workers were telephoned on Friday and asked to rejoin duty on Saturday, October 31. The extension brought relief to the workers, though the health department has refused to regularise their services. Dengue cases in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad have reached 134.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani has resigned in protest over what he described as interference in judicial affairs, according to reports on Wednesday. The senior judge had earlier served at the Islamabad High Court before being transferred to the Lahore High Court in April 2026, a move that pushed him down to 12th on that court's seniority list and left him without a division bench. Just a day before his resignation, a Lahore High Court roster had assigned him to a single bench at the Rawalpindi registry from November 2 to December 24.

Police registered a case and started an investigation, saying violence against women would not be tolerated.
